At Mecoxi, we continue to strengthen our production resources with the incorporation of a new horizontal lathe, an acquisition that represents another step forward in our machining capacity for parts with large lengths and diameters.
New horizontal lathe: 1,400 mm swing and 8,000 mm between centres
The new addition is a Geminis GT5i – G4 horizontal lathe, configured with a 1,400 mm swing and 8,000 mm between centres.
This capacity will allow us to undertake turning work on larger parts, expanding the range of operations available in our workshop and improving our response to industrial projects that require precision, stability and control throughout the entire process.
Turning long or large-diameter parts requires not only dimensional capacity, but also rigidity, operation planning, clamping control and proper in-process verification. For this reason, this incorporation does not only represent an improvement in capacity, but also an evolution in the organisation of our production.
A solution for long parts and demanding machining operations
Our new lathe is especially suited to turning parts that require support with steady rests, something common in long components. Its configuration allows us to work with greater stability and reduce handling during machining.
For Mecoxi, this feature is especially important in jobs where geometric control, alignment and repeatability are key factors to ensure that the final part meets the required specifications.
Greater capacity within an integrated production chain
This new machine joins a production fleet that already integrates different machining, cutting, fabrication, welding and dimensional inspection technologies.
